Description: Understanding the Seerah (Biography) of the the prophet (S.A.W) is essential to understanding Islam. How are we to understand the quran the way the sahabahs did unless we understand the context in which each verse was revealed? And the battles of rasul Allah are an integral part of his seerah to the extent that the books of seerah were often named 'Maghazi' (or battles).
This is the view that was held by the scholars amongst the pious predecessors as evidenced by the saying of 'Ali Ibn Al- Husain (may Allah be pleased with him), "We used to teach the Battles of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) equally as we used to teach the Surah of the Glorious Qur'an." Az-Zuhari, likewise, said, "In studying the Battles (of the Prophet) lies the knowledge of this world as well as the Hereafter."
The Battles Of The Prophet is an excellent translation of Ibn Kathir's work of the same name. We expect and hope that this book will enrich your knowledge of Islam and help to rekindle in you some of the spirit that made the sahabahs and other great generations of Muslims great.
