    Description:  This book is a revision of my doctoral dissertation, undertaken at the Australian Catholic University under the supervision of Associate ProfessorMary Coloe, between.The current book does not substantially rework that dissertation but presents a revised version which aims to speak to a larger, scholarly readership and which incorporates my own further reflections on the topic as well as input frommy doctoral examiners. I wish to thank those examiners, Professor Francis Moloney and Professor Adele Reinhartz, for their extraordinarily generous comments and feedback—it has been an honor for me to have had such erudite scholars interact with my thinking; their own work has forever changed my thinking about this Gospel for the better.

    The same obviously goes for my supervisor, Mary Coloe, whose advice and friendship over the years has been a true blessing.Mary exceeded the requirements of a PhDsupervisor, always going the ‘extramile’ and having utmost faith in my abilities.
