In it's original form, this book was published with the title, "The Singing Bone." It was later republished as "The Adventures of Dr. Thorndyke." This book has historical significance as it contains the first example of the inverted detective formula used in The Case of Oskar Brodski (originally published in Pearson's Magazine in 1912), along with several other examples.
